Japan - Okinawa Day 4
What a beautiful day after the storms! We decided to do some wash today because we think it may be our last self wash of the trip. So, we got a late start on our relax time and decided to go the beach instead of the pool. We were only two of the few people that were at the beach today. It was a nice setup with loungers in the sun or in the shade and some loungers had hammocks right next to them. The day flew by with people and nature watching. A few groups went out for snorkeling excursions and a few folks went into the water. Afterwards, we came back for game night and decided to go to the bar for a light dinner since we have been indulging quite a bit lately. I got to experience Awamori, an alcoholic beverage indigenous and unique to Okinawa. It is made from long grain indica rice, and is not a direct product of brewing (like sake) but of distillation (like shōchū).
Okinawa has been very welcoming and we will be sad to leave tomorrow. Some of our quirky memories will be the decorated hand sanitizer bottles (to match the staff), the robots to carry dishes in the restaurants, the automated mowers on the lawns that are whisper quite, the many colorful butterflies, the calls of many different types of birds, and the beautiful scenery and people!
